Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Our members are made up of local citizens who are dedicated to their community. The volunteers make a commitment to respond to any emergency situation. We are proud of our history, our heritage, and our Fire Department which was organized in 1965.

The Dickinson Law Enforcement Center is the dispatching center for our fire calls, rescue calls, dive rescue calls, and all our training pages.

The Department works closely with the Dickinson Ambulance Service, providing the rescue squad and extrication equipment including the Jaws of Life.  Our fire department is extremely proud of the fast, efficient response time we deliver during an emergency call.  The dive rescue most of southwest North Dakota.

The Dickinson Rural Fire and Rescue Department is comprised of forty volunteer firefighters and are led by the Chief, Assistant Chief, and Captains.  The volunteer firefighters' excellent response time is a result of the volunteers living in nearly every neighborhood of the city, responding from home, work, or leisure through a state-of-the-art paging system. Many times they are able to control a fire in its infancy, preventing it from getting out of control.

If you are considering giving something back to your community and firefighting interests you, please feel free to contact any of the Dickinson Rural Fire Dept. members to join our team.
